How Much Does a Website Cost in Europe? (2026 Fixed-Price Guide)

Real 2026 website prices in Europe: typical market ranges, what drives cost, and our published fixed prices from €500 one-time or €50/month.

A professional business website in Europe typically costs between €1.500 and €10.000 as a one-time project, or €40 to €200 per month on a subscription model. Small brochure sites from freelancers start around €500 to €2.000; agency-built marketing sites usually land between €3.000 and €15.000; and custom builds with complex functionality run €20.000 and up. At OneStopDigital, our published prices are €500 (Launch), €1.000 (Establish), and €2.200+ (Build) one-time, or €50 to €130 per month on subscription — that is first-party data from our own pricing page, not an estimate.

The honest answer to “how much does a website cost” depends on three variables: who builds it, what it does, and what happens after launch. This guide breaks all three down with concrete euro figures, so you can budget properly and spot a quote that is either padded or suspiciously thin.

How Much Does a Website Cost in Europe: Typical Market Ranges

Most published cost guides for Europe agree on broad bands, even if the edges vary by country. Rates in Germany, the Netherlands, and the Nordics run higher than in Portugal, Poland, or Romania, but the structure is the same everywhere.

Website typeTypical European range (2026)Who builds it
DIY site builder (Wix, Squarespace)€0–€500/year + your timeYou
Simple brochure site (3–6 pages)€500–€3.000Freelancer or small studio
Business marketing site (6–15 pages)€3.000–€10.000Studio or agency
Custom design + CMS, integrations€8.000–€25.000Agency
Large corporate or multilingual site€25.000–€100.000+Agency
Webshop / e-commerce€2.000–€30.000+Studio or agency

These are honest typical ranges, not outliers. You will find freelancers below the bottom of each band and agencies well above the top. The spread exists because “a website” describes the deliverable, not the work: a five-page site with stock template design is a different project from a custom-designed, multilingual site integrated with your CRM.

What actually drives the price

Four factors explain most of the variance between quotes:

Design: template vs custom. Adapting a template costs a few hundred to a couple of thousand euros. Custom design — wireframes, unique layouts, revisions — adds €2.000 to €10.000 on its own. Custom is worth it when your brand needs to carry weight; a template is fine for a straightforward local business.

Content and page count. Every page needs copy, images, and structure. If you supply finished text, you save money. If the agency writes it, expect €100 to €400 per page. This is the most commonly overlooked line item, and it is why “just add three more pages” is never free.

Functionality. Contact forms and maps are trivial. Booking systems, member areas, multi-language setups, payment flows, and third-party integrations each add real engineering hours. This is usually where a website project quietly becomes a web application project — if your idea involves user accounts and logic, budget accordingly.

Who does the work. A Berlin agency with account managers bills differently from a two-person studio in Aarhus doing the work themselves. Neither is wrong, but you should know which overhead you are paying for.

Fixed-Price Websites in Europe: What We Charge and Why

Most European agencies quote per project after a discovery call, which makes comparison shopping nearly impossible. We publish our prices instead. As first-party data from OneStopDigital, here is our full one-time price list:

PackageOne-time priceWhat you get
Launch€500Single-page or small site, professional design, mobile-ready, EU-hosted
Establish€1.000Multi-page business site, on-page SEO foundations, contact forms
Build€2.200+Custom design and functionality, scoped precisely before we start

And the subscription model, where the build cost is spread out and hosting, maintenance, and updates are included:

PlanMonthlyBest for
Essential€50/monthSmall businesses that want a solid site without a large upfront outlay
Growth€130/monthBusinesses that need ongoing changes, content updates, and SEO attention
Studio€1.200/monthCompanies treating their web presence as a product with continuous development

Every plan runs on EU-hosted, GDPR-compliant infrastructure by default — no US data transfers to explain to your customers or your lawyer. If you want to understand why hosting location matters legally, we cover Schrems II and the CLOUD Act in plain language separately.

Why fixed prices? Because scope creep on hourly billing punishes you for asking questions, and vague quotes punish you for not being a web expert. A fixed price forces us to scope the project properly before we commit, which is work most agencies push onto the invoice instead. You can view our website packages in full on the websites service page.

Subscription vs one-time: which model costs less?

Over three years, €50/month totals €1.800 — comparable to a €1.000 one-time build plus roughly €25/month for hosting and occasional maintenance. The subscription costs slightly more in raw euros and buys you something specific: the site is never your problem. Updates, security patches, hosting, small changes — included, with one predictable line on your budget.

The one-time model is cheaper long-term if you have someone in-house who can handle updates, or if your site genuinely will not change for years. Be honest with yourself here. In our experience, sites without a maintenance arrangement decay: plugins go unpatched, content goes stale, and the eventual “refresh” costs more than maintenance would have.

Website Cost in Europe: The Line Items People Forget

A website quote is not the whole cost of owning a website. Budget for these regardless of who builds it:

Domain and hosting. A domain runs €10–€30/year. Decent European hosting runs €10–€50/month for a business site. Included in all our monthly plans.

Maintenance. Software updates, backups, security monitoring, uptime. Market rates for maintenance retainers in Europe run roughly €30–€150/month for a standard site. Skipping this is how sites get hacked.

Content updates. New photos, changed opening hours, a news post. Either learn the CMS, pay per change (€50–€100/hour typical), or choose a plan that includes it — our Growth plan exists for exactly this.

SEO. A website nobody finds is a business card in a drawer. Basic on-page SEO should be included in any competent build (it is in ours, from Establish up). Ongoing SEO work — content, technical improvements, local visibility — is a separate discipline; see our SEO services if that is on your roadmap.

GDPR compliance. Cookie consent that actually works, a real privacy policy, data processing agreements with your providers, and forms that do not leak personal data to US ad networks. Many cheap builds simply ignore this. If you sell online, the requirements get stricter still — our guide to GDPR-compliant webshop development covers what an e-commerce site legally needs.

Red Flags in Website Quotes

After reviewing plenty of quotes prospective clients bring to us, these patterns recur:

  • No itemization. “Website: €6.000” tells you nothing. Ask what design, content, functionality, and post-launch support each cost.
  • Hosting locked to the agency at inflated rates. €80/month for basic shared hosting is margin, not service. Ask where the site is hosted and whether you can leave with it.
  • “GDPR-compliant” with nothing behind it. Ask specifically: where is the data hosted, which third-party scripts load, and is there a cookie consent solution with real consent logging?
  • No mention of ownership. You should own your domain, your content, and ideally your code. Get it in writing.
  • A price too low to be real. A €200 “custom website” is a template with your logo pasted in, usually on infrastructure you will regret.

So What Should You Budget in 2026?

For a typical European small business: €1.000–€3.000 one-time plus €30–€100/month ongoing, or a single subscription in the €50–€150/month range that covers everything. For a growing company that treats its website as a sales channel: €5.000–€15.000 for the build and a serious maintenance and SEO budget behind it.

If you want to skip the quote-collection process entirely: our prices are published, fixed, and EU-hosted by default. View our website packages or see the full pricing overview — what is listed is what you pay.
